Dear Original Northwood Neighbors

There have been many questions asked about the relationship between the Original Northwood Association (ONA) and the Greater Northwood Covenant Association (GNCA). I will do my best to explain the differences between the two organizations.

The GNCA was formed in the early 1930s as the neighborhood was originally being built. This organization encompasses not only Original Northwood, but many of the surrounding neighborhoods as well. As per the original deed between the city and the company that built our neighborhood, each resident is required to pay a certain amount per year to the GNCA, based on the size of the lot they own. This is a legal requirement, and failure to pay can result in the potential sale of a property to be held up at settlement.

The Original Northwood Association (ONA) is the local community association for just our neighborhood. This is the organization that I am the treasurer of, and we are an entirely separate body from the aforementioned GNCA. The ONA is involved with organizing community maintenance, publishing the neighborhood newsletter, coordinating local safety initiatives and hosting neighborhood social events. We are a volunteer organization that collects dues from our neighborhood residents on a strictly voluntary basis. These dues are $35 annually.

If you are selling your home, or have other questions concerning the annual dues owed to the GNCA, you will have to get in touch with the treasurer of that organization. Unfortunately, I have no input, control or information about their dues collection process.

If you are interested in paying your ONA dues, you may pay via the Google Checkout button on the home page of this site, or you may mail or deliver a check, made payable to the Original Northwood Association, to 1208 Havenwood Rd, Baltimore, MD 21218.

Any other questions about the treasury maybe be sent to treasurer@originalnorthwood.org.

Thank you,

Treasurer
